Sounds wonderful! Revisiting Camino and a comprehensive history of your work.

You’ve accomplished so much in your brilliant career, creating Planetary Security, working on the Paris Agreement and much more.

Can’t wait to hear the interview. The photos are already beckoning to me.

I really enjoyed listening to this interview. Such a wide variety of topics, each of them interesting.

One of the things I enjoyed most was listening as you spoke about certain things that seemed to excite you.

I could tell the Planetary Security project is a source of pride, as it should be.

It was a joy to listen and learn more about you and your experiences.

That was a superb podcast. You covered a wide array of topics starting with The Camino and addressing planetary security, migration, international solidarity and diplomacy, climate and pollution, photography. As always well-spoken and engaging. The interviewer, Andrea Weckerle was thorough, asking in-depth questions and allowing for your thoughtful answers.

Favorite quote: "We created the problems together and we have to solve them together."

Loved the bumble bee story 😊 Thank you!

By choice or not disappointments and expectations are part of challenging routes. All roads lead to somewhere but nothing is perfect. Nevertheless, when open to learning, we are in permanent construction :-)

I listenend to this on my way to work on Monday. Made my commute feel very short (it's a little over 1 hour). Very much enjoyed it. And Andrea really picked out some nice topics to talk about. Like the bumble bee story and also some of your most memorable camino stories. Well done.

It's been some time now since I was podcasting myself so it was nice to do one agani, this time sitting in the other seat, not being the host.

Way to go, Alex. A very nice interview. I am struck by your love of history whether it be The Santiago, Climate Change, Europe, American Politics or the American Southwest. History has important tales to tell.

I am a fan of Ken Burns, who chronicles American History. Your writings remind me of his; not just about information but about human beings and the choices they make. America is facing the choice of our lifetime. Freedom is on the ballot. It is not our inheritance, and its flame is flickering in danger of burning out. Today, Trump proposes "one really violent day and I mean rough" where police crackdown on shoplifters and the "word will go out". Sounds like the heinous Nazi version of Kristallnacht.

I think we must now remember our history and what we have fought and died for: America's independence; a bloody civil war against slavery; civil rights and everything in between. Freedom should be joyous. If I am free, you should be free. Let's make the right choice. "Do something that will last and be beautiful."

The US is at a pivotal point in its history, and the rest of the world tries to understand how it got here. How can a choice between two candidates who are more different from each other than any other candidates in the history of the US be so problematic? For us here in Europe, it is clear that one of the two is entirely unfit for office; it's the kind of guy I wouldn't consider buying a secondhand car from. And still, it is an extremely tight race? There is a more structural problem, which is about how a society functions; if you want a functioning democracy, there must be a level of humanity embedded that avoids a 'winner takes it all' principle. Democracy is not 51% of the population suppressing the other 49%; checks and balances must be part of the system. However, when corporate greed owns a democracy, there is only a fragile and breakable line left between the will of the people and prioritizing shareholder value. A democracy can govern a market economy, but only within the guardrails that prevent this situation from being turned around. At this point in history, the US is frighteningly close to such a tipping point.

Wow, Alex. Perfect. Sitting in a battleground state on the Mexico Border, seeing "Latinos for Trump" claim this snake oil salesman is the Strong Man who will fix our economy, deport thousands of their fellow men while closing our Border, I feel like Alice Through the Looking Glass. Even the basic levels of humanity are missing. We may have reached that tipping point.
