Great! Now there's another movie I have to watch ... bit before my time as James Dean died the year my mom was born.
Love the analogy and with your explanation I can picture the scene very well.
I'm not sure rich countries have being hit enough to realize it is high time to get serious on taking climate action. I certainly don't think Switzerland is showing a real sense of urgency. Some people are and we are increasingly electing green party candidates, but that's not enough.
I do hope the talks at COP26 will be successful and urgent changes made ... I do have my doubts though. It might not be "bad enough" yet for serious action. I hope I'm wrong, because I'm also bad with heights and falling off a cliff doesn't sound appealing.
yes, there will be some goodies like always when the world watches. But to stop climate change we have to stop burning fossil fuels, it is as simple as that. It seems the world's leaders are still not convinced of the urgency to act.
If history gives us any guidance on the role of the fossil fuel industry during a COP, we should expect them to do their best to maximize profits for the multinationals that they represent, and those profits are based on a model where we burn as much fossil fuels as possible. They won't succeed anymore by the previous tactics of denying that there is a climate change problem, so they will have changed their tune, focus on some nice green projects that they all have nowadays, while the very same companies lobby at the same time on a much bigger scale for keeping a fossil-fuel based system as the basis for our economy. As long as they pay the Joe Manchin types to avoid positive climate action you can be pretty sure that nothing has really changed. Never trust those who got us into this mess to be the ones that will get us out of this mess.
Well spoken, Alexander! Global awareness of our common future is vital.
Thank you, Heico

I would totally watch that remake.
The main difference in the remake will be that the youth of today rebels with cause to rebel for.
Perfect analogy. Seems like there are small glimmers of hope coming out of COP26 but we’ll all see for sure shortly.
