I took most of these photos in Frogner Park, which includes the famous Vigeland Sculpture Park, with hundreds of sculptures created by artist Gustav Vigeland.
Thank you. It's just iphone shots, but I've photogrphed all my life so I guess I feel where to stop while running. I would normally not use the opening picture, since the colors are wrong, look for instance at the trunk of the tree on the left. This was meant to be a Patreon post, but I thought others might like it too so I decided for Substack at the last moment.
What beautiful scenes of a place in the North that Iâm sure some people think is covered in snow all year!
The verdant scenery you took on your âbreather stopsâ are a perfect invitation for more people to visit Oslo. Just a lovely post to read while spending a very rainy Sunday in Chicagođ (Iâm not complaining; we desperately needed a good summer soaking.)
Big city life, like Chicago, feels far away in this lovely city. Autumn started today and somehow the weather knows: starting tomorrow the weather is really turning colder.
I see that in spite of your more northerly latitude, the trees are changing colour at about the same rate as your previous home in Ottawa. I'm interested in the red leaves you photographed. Do they have Red Maples there? Our Norway Maples generally turn yellow in the fall and are considered an invasive species in Ontario woodlands, disrupting the forest floor and canopy. I wonder what their reputation is in Oslo? Have an agreeable autumn! It looks like you have a good start on that already.
This was just a small part of one tree that started to color, perhpas at a spot where this tree received less water. Generally the coloring has just started here and there and from what I see, yellow wins it from other colors, although it is too soon to tell. I searched a bit on the internet about your question. It seems, we do have Red Maples here in Oslo, although they are not as common as other species. The Red Maple is actually an introduced species in Norway, originally from North America, and it has a low risk classification regarding invasiveness here. So over the past centuries, we swopped quite some trees back and forth, adding yellow to North America and red to Norway. The Norway Maple tends to turn yellow in the fall and is indeed considered invasive in Ontario. I'll see if I can share some more photos in the next weeks.
It's also a good place to sit and people watch - like tour groups discovering some of the more outrageous sculptures đ. Oh and there used to be a lovely cafĂŠ to the right of the main entrance.
I just love the trees! đłđ˛đ´Glad you got in some exercise! And you know I hope Luna is out from under the bed, poor disoriented fur baby! â¤ď¸đ˝ Fabulous photos, had no idea what to expect.
I'm pleased to report that Luna is finally acting normal again (normal as in here usual way of behaving, which not many people would qualify as normal behavior; as a cat-mom you will know what I mean ;-)
This is lovely!
Not only is a good planet hard to find, a day this perfect is also hard to find when we are living in a maelstrom of anxiety and fears each day.
You surely deserved this gorgeous break from that harsh reality.
Your photos are exquisite. Still lush greenery with touches of fall foretelling whatâs to come. đđ
Perfection indeed!

I love that tree trunk đ
Spectacular views! How lovely for you! Happy Sunday đ
Thanks, Rena!

What a perfect day! How nice for you.
Oslo seems to be a good fit.
I love it here!

How lovely. Thank you. Love Frogner Park. One of my must sees. Great place for a run.
It is. I expect to spend a lot of time there walking and running.

Glad Judith asked about Luna and equally glad that she's back to "normal".
