"Now that nobody, not even the rich and famous in one of the world's media hubs, can no longer escape climate change, it is a good moment to start meaningful climate action at the appropriate scale and speed that this existential crisis demands."

We have suspected when the powerful and wealthy are directly affected by climate change, we may see action taken. Now we wait and see.

ā€œIt's official: last year was the warmest year ever measured. If this sounds familiar to you, let me assure you that I'm not recycling old newsletters; it's just that 2023 was also the warmest year ever measured. It's worse: the last ten years have been the warmest ten years on recordā€

All this as we watch a major American city decimated by the effects of climate change, there are scoffers, deniers! What does it take???

And we await an administration of imbeciles who will only worsen this catastrophe.

I can't imagine it will be like that next term. A changed and gloomy reality for many will push innovation and renovation.

Thank you for this detailed and updated information, AlexšŸ‘Œ

Forecasts for the near future make tremble.

But I quote in particular two excerpts from your article:

Ā«Ā We know how to stop climate change, we have the technology...Ā Ā»

Ā«Ā Now... is the right time to launch meaningful climate action at the appropriate scale and speed that this existential crisis requires.Ā Ā»

I see a strong signal through a new and broader mobilization, including all those people who have just experienced a personal ecological drama and who have direct access to the medias !

I seriously don't know what else has to happen. And I know that I've said this before. Yet more and more catastrophic events are happening. You mentioned the rich and famous - there was a brief outcry here when Zermatt was hit by major floods, but it died down way to quickly.

I know it's all about the money, but how or why do people not realize how much money there is to be made with green energy and how many new jobs could be created. The strength and power of the fossil fuel lobby is scary and so distructive - and they know that full well. Creating fear and spreading misinformation works.

Thank you for this. I need to go for a walk now.

I find it hard to name a political leader I admire because I find it hard to name a leader that has taken climate change as seriously as they should deal with it.
