Another interesting look at a week before much changed on our beautiful planet. My favorite image is of the gorgeous sunset. Your island has exquisite sunsets!
I wonder what you will write about this same period next year.
I will bookmark this to compare.
Thank you for this look back in time,
Itโs important to record our history for those who follow us. Especially now!
"That afternoon, I made a long walk through the wetlands on the Dutch island and captured a magnificent sunset reflected in the still waters. The handful of tourists who had visited the island for the Christmas and New Year's festivities had all departed, leaving behind a beautiful silence."
And the peaceful silence is reflected in the beautiful image.
It's astonishing how all this still resonates in my memory!
Through your flashes that revive the memory of your beautiful photos, of our exchanges... With a touch of the news of the time to put us back in context!
I imagine that it must take you time to go back over this past and make choices, to contract it into a few lines and pictures !
In a "condensed" way, as you know how to do, Alex, without nostalgia.
I remember the day you posted the two images of the Zierikzee street and the ensuing discussion about lenses, focal length, and perspective. Then I fell down a deep rabbit hole of Dutch photographers.
Haha, yes I remember too, it led to a fierce debate. It also shows why iPhones never give the result you would like to see when photographing landscapes. But I hardly use my DSLR anymore, it's just such a burden in weight and size and -unless you are a real professional- I don't think it weighs up against the better quality. Having said that, I do miss the creativity of using a real camera and once in a while I take my camera out of retirement and take it for a walk in nature.
Yes ๐โฆ! I remember very well these photos and this reflection on visual perspective.
We can easily transpose this to our daily life, to what surrounds us or what we think and feel: often everything is a question of perspective and sensitivity!
The past does give perspective! Such beautiful photos and curated news, Thank you! You inspired me to look back at at that week in January-2024 photos and my date book. The only newsy recollections there involved growing kittens and grandchildren.

Thank you, Rena, it's why I love it here, especially at this moment.

But those are the most precious recollections to cherish ๐
