"It's hard to create clickbait about animals you can no longer see while orange flames and anger sell so well."
When I explain the absence of insects, many people seem pleased. I have been fighting denial trolls the last few days. So now I move on to your beautiful photos. I remember the fog. Mystic. ๐ป
Just had to throw a troll out of this chat. Suddenly they appear on Substack; really only since the election they are here. I never blocked anyone on Substack and had to block a handful this week.
The mysterious and foggy photo was one of my favorites . And always, Luna. Must share with my tribe that my precious Sophie ๐ฝ๐พ๐พ has my full attention as she is quite ill and my heart is breaking ๐ . At 15 but a history of good health, perhaps she will survive this assault. We medicate, give treats, love when she appears (in hiding now worrisome) . Perhaps just tired from full day away from Momma. Hugs for her please! Bless you all. Iโll get back to the horrid actions of the orange man and our fragile climate another day. ๐๏ธ
Oh my kind tribe, what would I do with out you? Sophie is much improved; hope it is sustainable! Best yet, in the middle of posting this, my contractor called with date heโs coming to put a roof back on my house post Helene!
AND the lumberjackโs are out in force taking the fallen trees and debris. Maybe my pre-Trump โnormalโ is on the horizon. Then I can deal with election fallout. ๐๐๐
Your prose is frightening and beautiful with your sadness. You and so many of this community have been in the climate trenches, you understand the danger and the US election has made it even more so. I'm enjoying all of the beautiful photos and finding the looking back focuses me on how fragile all the beauty feels. It is still here and right now so am I, but I am also trying to learn more and do what I can.

Heartbreakingly brilliant!
Thank you
Oh thank you, Lizzie. :-)
Since you add many new photos and all the recaps of events, the whole article is new and a good reminder.
Thank you, Aida

Sending my wishes for Sophie, hoping she will get back into good health soon.
Love and hugs for you and Sophie and also Claire ๐โค๐ป
Thank you so much! ๐
Neglected to say the obvious; she was at vetโs office all day!

Oh that is so much good news! Iโm happy for you. Give Sophie a hug :-)
Hugs as we write! Such a cuddler she is! Hope she continues on this path to recovery! ๐
Hugs from me too ๐
No, I misspoke. Sophie eating and cuddling is more than a roof to me. โค๏ธ๐ฝ๐พ๐พ

This is so nice to read, especially since writing each day is such a challenge. Thank you, Leslie!
May nature have pity on us, this is the mortal sin, the destruction of our earth paradise
Yes, we have only one habitable planet withing reach and we are destroying this paradise at breakneck speed.
Luna is the best.
Oh thank you, yes she is so sweet.
Sobering facts paired with a Luna picture - makes it easier to digest.
Oh and Ghent, that brings back memories. Stunning place.
Yes, Ghent is stunning. Less than 1.5 hours from the island.
It was either Ghent or Bruges. My friend lives in the middle on the border to Zeeland. Glad we went to Ghent.
Both are nice but Bruges feels more like an open-air museum, while Ghent is more a complete city.
