"To put it into context, those extra four billion tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (GtCO2e) by 2030 would cause global climate damages worth more than $900bn. You can also compare these Trump emissions of 4GtCO2e to the combined annual emissions of the EU and Japan."

I have taken a short break from activism and quietly tucked myself under a soft duvet. I remind myself to keep it short because the greedy corporations love it when we're complacent.

Going to look again at your lovely photos 🌻

We all need a break from activism sometimes, especially when knowing that our battle has no end-date in sight.

Oh, I missed that troll yesterday. Important not to feed them. Great pictures as always. Love the one with your shadow, great light on that. Walking in those dunes during non-tourist months looks heavenly. Thanks for sharing.

I'm also still angry at Exxon.

We all should be angry at Exxon. Imagine what would happen if you're the first to discover a fire breaking out in a cinema and, instead of warning everyone, you walk on stage to tell them that there is fake news about a fire but that you're the expert; they should trust you and everyone should go back to their seats. When the burned bodies are recovered, would anyone disagree with prison time?

The insane people that are running some of those companies or entire countries would disagree and find a way to spin it. Of course I totally agree with you and I like this example.

It is disheartening to know I voted for joy; more than half of my fellow Americans voted for hate. I voted to keep our immigrant families together; America voted to tear families apart in mass deportations. I voted for our planet; America voted to unleash the wrath of the fossil fuel industry and more. I feel this goes beyond politics. This goes to retribution; this goes to premeditated greed; this goes to unquestionable domination and that is not a Democracy.

The guard rails are completely off. It feels hopeless yet I know the constant for America is change. Has America gone too far? Sealed our fate. Bill Clinton: "We must remain diligent; watch the signs and be willing to stand up for what is right."

And as nature has shown us: " I go to nature to be soothed and healed and to have my senses put in order". Muchas gracies, Alex, for putting our senses in order.

Thank you, Sharon, you formulate it so well.

COP29 is a complete farce. Azerbaijan is a mega-petrostate with plans to double its output over the next ten years. It sells Russian oil and natural gas, as well as its own, to the EU. The Aliyev regime committed ethnic cleansing of the Armenians of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabagh), and rules his own citizens with an iron fist. His use of "caviar diplomacy" and expensive lobbying and PR firms buys Azerbaijan's so-called standing on the world stage. He makes Trump look good. :/

‘You’re less motivated to fight for it if you don’t know what we may lose’

How very true! That’s how the climate deniers think

(but they don’t t get it).

What a meaningful post, Alex‼️But because I am unable to conceptualize

the large numbers you mentioned that Exxon knew about, I was stunned by your beautiful photos! What a contrast to the week in words… Being a lover of bare branches, your photo of the tree reflected in the pond really moved me. I’f like to hang it in my flat!

Thank you for beauty contrasted with horrid behavior.

Thank you, Anne, I found the concept of the first days with the list of dates getting a bit boring, so I'm trying a different form now. This newsletter has always mutated into new forms and will likely continue to do so.

We all need a break from the incompetence of world leaders to stop the destruction of our planet. The nature that's still left is a good place to find energy and purpose again.
