Sec Gen Guterres came prepared to make his case before the world leaders & did so powerfully. Each point was well made & supported. No one listening could deny or contradict his declarations. They were based on incontrovertible facts.
You, in turn, have emphasized the most important statements perfectly, adding your own corroborating insights from years of sounding the alarms for climate action as well as for the six βgreat dividesβ that youβve long supported. The mantle has been laid for the leaders to act. The question now is will they take heed and lead as any responsible leader should?
It must feel great to escape for a bit on a morning walk in a village as picturesque as yours. Thank you for sharing those pictures. Those quiet streets, the field and those trees lining the way. Just beautiful. Did you buy a pumpkin?
What stuck with me most in Secretary Guterres' speech was "science is under attack" as to me it seems to be the core issue. The facts are crystal clear, but people find ways to pretend they aren't. They create their own facts. That goes for the divide on the climate crisis as well as the one on covid and covid vaccines. While I agree that everybody should have access to the internet, getting rid of demonstrably false information should also be a goal.
Gender equality is going to be key as is having young people at the table. The older generation has clearly failed them. Let them take the lead and show us how it's done.
Iβm grateful that the alarm was sounded yesterday that the climate crisis is all around each of us. Now we need ACTION, to prove these were not empty words. Thanks, Alex, for all you write and do.
Bookmarking this to read after work. I watched part of the Day 1 UN session yesterday and was very moved. We have some great strategists in place... and we can galvanize the vision behind the strategies as well.
This is why I support βthe Planetβπππ°ππ·π π
Nice, peaceful, and at the same time concerned edition of βThe Planetβ. Compliments
Thank you Heico
And you earn all the support, of course! π
