More than half a century ago, John Lennon knew he was not the only one dreaming of a world that would live as one. But as every headline in the news reminds you, his ideals still require imagination. Putin's indiscriminate targeting of civilians created hell on earth, one that is still burning when you read these lines.
Music touches the depths of our souls and can let our spirits soar with joy, comfort us in times of sadness and strengthen us beyond expectations. The touching examples included here are heartbreaking as lives are torn apart by a brutality that exceeds imagination.
You’ve briefly stepped into their lives to share the stories of people determined to prevail and have profoundly related the horror they are enduring. The article you’ve crafted makes us reflect on how we would meet such a fate and it’s a very uncomfortable thought. Brilliant writing and illustrations.
Wise commentary, as per usual, and many thanks for distinguishing Biden's words re. Putin, not Russians, as well as noticing the different attitudes of the current and past US presidents!

As it was at the beginning of the Covid pandemic with people around the world singing and playing instruments from their apartment windows & terraces, the power, hope and inspiration of music is again lifting souls in Ukraine and elsewhere. After the George Floyd murder, he and his piano traveled to that city to help soothe and unify. Alex, this was a really lovely reminder of the importance of music. Thank you!
