It’s all about the bullying and intimidation just because he can.

A pity that most people who accumulate astronomical wealth use it like a mad tyrant when it could be used far better with benevolence and empathy.

Ellen Schuringa posted this on Twitter in response to another post who said Musk is now allowing swastikas on Twitter and whether to stay or go:

“ As my Dutch aunt pointed out to my grandmother in 1939 “if we all leave the Germans can just march in”. So they stayed, and got involved in the resistance. Not quite the same thing, but still…”

When thinking about whether to stay or go, I think I prefer to join the resistance as long as possible although I am on Mastodon and liking it better as I get more familiar.

Very thoughtful article.

Interesting review/actualisation of facts. Predictable results in the near future. Doubts always. Nothing is guaranteed. With or without social media platforms all I want for Christmas is peace of mind, slopes of health, sparks of love, and unquestionable friends to remember.

Merry Christmas and a Hopeful Year to everyone who will read this. Stay safe, busy and aware.

The vacuous billionaire is a self consumed bully. I don’t know if this comes from changes that upended his childhood, autistic spectrum traits specific to only him or something else. There is no conversation or reasoning with someone who has no interest in anyone else and makes empty promises.

I did like Post but since the floodgates have opened, I can’t stand not having the ability to BLOCK all the screenshots of the 2x impeached loser and of the vacuous billionaire. I’m waiting for SPILL.

Thanks, Alex, for this wonderful summary of our moment. I also am deciding to stay - but that is a decision made on a daily basis. The unpredictability of it all is depressing. Have a lovely holiday, and looking forward to the 2023 issues of The Planet!

Thank you for your commentary! I have basically stayed on Twitter because I haven't had time to really explore other options. I signed up on The Post, but there's not much happening there and I can't quite figure out how to interact. Mastodon seems confusing, but maybe I need to revisit it. I'm loathe to be a part of Musk's world, so I need to make a decision soon, I think!

I'm surprised by how quickly I've moved on. I don't visit the site itself, I don't miss it, and I won't go back no matter what happens. I've discovered I love decentralization. 😊

I do visit Hootsuite to read and like posts of people on my lists, but most of them are now tooting.

I believe anyone "selling" on Mastodon will succeed personally and financially as long as they're creating something people value. I hope the New Year brings you many more followers and much success no matter where you are! 🎄
