Whale are such beautiful animals. I had completely missed that story about the whale in the London estuary. I've just read up on it. It's so sad to see that whales are struggling. Oceans clearly need our help to recover from what we've done to them.

Shortly before the pandemic hit I went to see a multimedia show called "Leidenschaft Ozean" (which might translate to "passion for the ocean" or sth). That was eye-opening and sobering. And, it was completely sold out - in land-locked Switzerland. People are (or were at the time) starting to take an interest in our oceans.

Thank you for highlighting the issues ocean wildlife and the oceans themselves are facing. Let's now elect leaders that will act.

Thank you

The whales seem to be under attack from all sides such as ship strikes, fishing gear, and climate change. Right whales are endangered and these hazards are making it even more difficult for the species to survive. The harm that humans have inflicted on wildlife, forests and plants, and the land is devastating. May humans wake up and finally realize that all life is interconnected. Your story is an important one to read and think about.

So sad to read this about two magnificent creatures imperiled by humanityโ€™s effects on their habitat. One lost, the other in grave danger. Each day we see more & more evidence of the harm we cause our planet & its inhabitants, including ourselves. Human intelligence is dramatically lacking in the area thatโ€™s most destructive to itself & the earth. Hopefully, Wally will miraculously survive.

Thank you for a different kind of story today but one thatโ€™s exceedingly important to read & ponder.

What if Wally is not lost, but is merely a teenager exploring the new currents opening up? No doubt they are opening ... can we really know what is Wally's motivation or inspiration to act?

I love whales, hoping that we grow smarter soon to keep them out of harms way. To learn re-living with a growing and migrating wild life populations (after we stop destroying them) is a current endeavor. I'm in training were I live . . . Creating human/wildlife habitat corridors are the marvels of today . . . ๐Ÿณ๐ŸŒป

Itโ€™s hard to read and write about such sad things like this. As I watched the whole thing unfold yesterday, I kept thinking โ€œweโ€ owe so much more than what was done. Iโ€™m glad you wrote about it, Alex. More people are aware now and that is worth something.
