I can see why you would watch the sunset from the top of the dunes. Are these the really high ones you mentioned before? I would have be drawn to the ocean myself (it's a Swiss thing), but I would have missed out on those beautiful colors that you managed to capture so well. Those greens really make the picture. Thank you for sharing!
I love that early settlement story as well. Reminded me of Bodie in California that was declared a ghost town in 1915, but had a population of between 7000 and 10000 in 1879.

Thinking deeply about a thriving community swallowed by the Sea. Strolling on the remaining beach looking for objects the Sea may spit out again today.
