What to read on your Sunday morning

It is Saturday evening; I am working on an article that I won’t finish tonight. But I don’t want to leave your mailbox empty on your Sunday morning; I will share a few pictures of today and a few older stories. I am sure many of you don’t always have the time to read what I post; perhaps this Sunday morning is a good moment to catch up.

Ottawa is still in lockdown, but the flower and fruit markets are open. After my Pfizer shot in Ottawa City Hall, my morning started there.

And here are two pictures of the Ottawa River in the late afternoon. On the first one, you can see the prime minister's residence, just left on the colored trees.

And this one is a bit later at sunset, looking from Ontario to Quebec.

In case you missed it: some light reading for the Sunday

I published ‘Hummingbirds’ last Monday. It should have been your Sunday reading because of its style and length, but I didn't want to wait until today when I had finished it late on Sunday. So here is your second chance in case you missed it.

If you like hummingbirds, you will probably be disappointed since it is much more about Napoleon, his nephew, his nephew’s wife, and his nephew’s ‘Mistress of the Robes.’ Meet an Austrian painter (a good and talented guy), Le Petit Prince, and the story even brings you to Mars. Some hummingbirds also appear in the story, but by then, we are in Arizona.

This is one of the first stories I wrote for The Planet, On the Fourth Earl of Minto, and a bridge in Ottawa.

And a last one. I hope that the wide variety of themes and places that I write about will form a better-connected web in the future. Here is an example; if you have read Hummingbirds, you will find a trace of it back in this story about the history of the Suez Canal.
