Enjoy a few days of well-deserved break. You have been writing feverishly, balancing the task of looking back at 2024 with the bleak situation we face in our US democracy at present. I dread the outcome you allude to at the end of 2028, that which the majority of my countryβs voters seemed to naively embrace. I will continue to resist by choosing tolerance and kindness in my local environment.
Living in 2024 was a nightmare of political chaos and misinformation; awaiting a new ruling that might bring justice to the orange π€‘ and his high priced enablers, now sadly gone along with hope that justice might be served. So many good people fought for our future and now seem to have disappeared. Do I dare retain hope that there are movements quietly ongoing to restrain the worst of what has been openly promised by a conman, grifter, and Putinβs BFF? I will not survive four years of Trump. Lucky for me that I am elderly, disabled and will be on the other side of whatever comes next by 2028; When and if I can muster a bit of strength, I will find my VERY ANGRY π‘ RESISTANCE for the benefit of younger generations. It is those for whom I will fight in time. Struggling still with the shock of defeat, I must find pleasure and peace with my π½π½ and the rebuilding of the home that Helene stole, fighting insurance companies and banks who predictably are more interested in profits than my recovery. But I am getting close nowβ¦..πποΈ
I hope youβll win that fight that never should have been one if those insurance companies and banks would realize what their main task should have been.
The reality of the postponement of sentencing after DJT's conviction in the criminal case you observe beginning in week16 is a harsh contrast. But you then turn us to the beauty, that other pillar of your writing. The vivid contrast of green as you return to the Netherlands after walking in the North's continued winter grip is equally dramatic and so uplifting. Nature recloaks herself in green, and even though the North still waits, spring's green will come. Enjoy a well deserved break, set down the pen and feast your eyes and spirit.

Tolerance and kindness are the shades of light MLK must have had in mind when he spoke about driving out darkness.
It is painful to live among Americans who have no idea what they've done. They voted for someone who cares nothing about them.
And now to look at your beautiful images. Rest well. Deserved.
Having democracy is like having a beautiful planet, many only realize itβs beauty once they let it slip away.

Thank you, Alexander! Obstruction seems rampant in all areas of life these days. But I resist and continue the fight. A win is inevitable soon.

Thank you, Leslie; being in that beautiful part of the Netherlands was so wonderful.
