I love that you are setting the stone down to rest on the ground and not just "leaving it behind." El Camino es mas ligero. Ve en paz.

I hope you feel lighter (and I wished I had asked you to drop a stone for me too)! :) Buen camino!

Looks like you are a 'stone's throw' away of Camino de Santiago de Compostela (-:

End of trail . . ., how much more walking to do?

Glad you are able to deposit your burden at Cruz Ferro, and continue your journey under a lighter load. And donโ€™t worry about us geologists. We can find an explanation for nearly anything we encounter!

โ€œ For many centuries, pilgrims have brought a stone to the place to represent their burden.โ€

What a deeply symbolic ritual and, I would think, rather emotional when reflecting on the countless others whoโ€™ve done the same throughout the centuries. I canโ€™t know your thoughts as you replicated this gesture but I would find a satisfying and peaceful sense in doing it. And now a tiny piece of your island has been added.

You walk with history and, even in moments of solitary walking, you are accompanied by the specters of those who preceded you. A very moving thought.

The sunrise is breathtaking.
