I don't see how anyone could take COP29 seriously when the oligarchic-petrostate-dictatorship host has openly declared it intentions to double its fossil fuel output over the next 10 years, to increase mining, and continue selling Russian oil—to say nothing of its egregious human rights abuses and ethnic cleansing of its neighbors.
I share a video, not from a year ago but from today (Sunday). Flooding in my home town, but many in Cymru, the dis-U.K. and worldwide suffer far more.
This is a large park on the edge of town gifted to the town for recreational use. A place to be in nature, to walk (with or without dogs), and on weekends it is full of sportsmen and women playing rugby, football and cricket. It is on a floodplain. It, and flood defences, have protected the town centre for decades thanks to the terms of the gift. How ‘their’ would like to build a thousand houses here.

This adage refers to a simple physical phenomenon: if one of the links is not reliable, it will be the first to cause the breakage of the entire chain, despite the strength of the other links.
The most dangerous link in the chain is known...
But life goes on! I think that the hope is to believe that the political, financial future is not completely written in advance, that the hope is to keep the autonomy of our thought and of our motivation to continue to move in the right direction.
