A quiet Memorial day here, it's still raining this morning . . .

Thank you for yesterday's slinky tree shadows, and the past yearly Memorial days photo tour across the Atlantic Ocean. The orphan photo is one of the best war reminders of the situation at that time.

I like the story part about the Nuns who had to re-adjust their walking habits from concealment with help from your mother.

Honour freedoms . . .

Beautiful storyteling in pictures. As a Nuffic alumnus from the University of Groningen, I can relate with the destiny changing the allied forces did for Europe. Thank you for the work you are doing to keep the light burning.

Lovely story Alex. Those little dresses are so adorable. You can see the smiles on the soldier's faces. It must have been good for them after what they had been through to just walk hand in hand with a small child, a reminder of what they are protecting. My father and his brothers, seven of them I believe, all served in the USAF.

The pictures are lovely also, thank you.

A very appropriate & meaningful article for today. Sharing the special significance of this day is sweetly marked by the adorable children & their liberators.

It’s always interesting to take a virtual trip through your memories with your marvelous photos with details of where you were that day. One is quite special to me.

Today’s edition is an easy example of why your offer of a Free 30 day subscription is a no-brainer for anyone who isn’t already subscribed.

Thanks for another good one.

Thanks for the photos looking back at your Memorial Days. It was wonderful to see them. Glad you had a warm and sunny weekend unlike our wet and cold one here. I am old enough to remember when the war in Germany was over. As children we went outside and banged pots and pans to celebrate. I knew then that my brother would soon be home again. Thank you for the memories.

It was a beautiful weekend here as well. Not a long one, but bright and sunny. Looking forward to reading more about the liberation of the Netherlands. I'm amazed by all the personal connections you have to the stories you tell. Or maybe it's the other way around. You tell these stories so well, because of that personal connection.

I now want to go back to Kungsträdgården (or Stockholm in general - those colors really are beautiful), Gripsholm/Mariefred (I was there in August 2017 and took a smiliar shot, I think from out where that bench is), Uppsala - love the history and there's so much to discover. I also loved Prague. Thanks for bringing back those memories and sharing yours.
