In 1882, Vincent Van Gogh wrote to his brother Theo: "How much good it does a person if one is in a gloomy mood to walk on the empty beach and look into the grey-green sea with the long white lines of the waves." Today, I was on the beach but not in a gloomy mood. Of course, my spirit is seldom like Vincent's hallmark mood, but I was jet-lagged, which I can only assume Vincent seldom was. Nor were there long white lines of the waves. It was low tide, so the beach was wider than usual, and the cold kept many people indoors.
Your photos of your beautiful island are soothing, lovely in every way. The way you embrace this place brings you peace, it would appear. Hold it dear. It is a rare thing to find and keep. Looking forward to your next posts. Safe travels!
Thank you for sharing such wonderful photos! We're having similar weeks, though I'm spending mine non-gloomily walking on an empty South Jersey beach. π
I'm not familiar with the Mesdag panorama, so I look forward to seeing that on my next visit to The Hague.
Welcome back home on the island, Alexander. Wonderfully written again, with beautiful photos, I really enjoyed it. I am also an admirer of Vincent van Gogh.
βπ» I like the wagon and the donkeys, the white donkey makes the splash on the painting for me (-:
I am wondering what the fisherman are fishing for? And the sand on the beach looks all turned over!
My family got angry with me when I was half unconscious from Jet-lag. They wanted to go out and be social. I needed to sleep. the body hurts. Thank you Alexander. Good sleeps (-:
Words donβt need frames for the enchantment, but reasons embracing passions and moments.

Iβm smiling reading this. Itβs lovely.
And I always enjoy your appreciation of Vincent.
I hope the jet lag subsides soon. And I look forward to more photos from the island, always a paradise regardless of the season.
These are wonderful.

Lovely
Good morning from Ottawa, and thank you for the lovely story. May your day be as gentle as the calmness of a still sea.
