Beautiful writing, almost lyrical in description, and incredible images of breathtaking sunsets.

Your words do them justice.

Thank you for preserving these lovely sunsets of late summer. We can all hold onto them in those long winter months like a faraway dream.

Thanks Lizzie. And in the clean air of winter the sunsets are often even better

Alex, as you expressed so beautifully, the spectacular colors of the sky are a stark contrast to the brown dry colors of the earth. What a lovely peaceful walk to conclude your day!

Thank you Dawna, yes it is so incredibly dry in the dunes. I’ve never seen it like this.

The intense dry heat is here too in LA. Late afternoon yesterday was a hot windy 102F here in the westside hills, a few miles away in flat valley was 113F. Temps will continue to rise thru 115F here Sunday. Fire weather so everyone is on edge. Stay hydrated!!!

I think doing a Raindance is on order here. Never thought much about the Natives doing Rain dances, but now it's giving new and more meaning. I love your sunset video. It's fun to see how you timed it (-: me 💃 doing a 🌧 dance . . . !!

I was just reading the news (online) about the mess here in the States, the flooding in Pakistan, the war In Ukraine, etc. Then I came here to see what you have been up to. Thank you. It’s like a wave washed over me, taking away the pain & worry, only leaving goodness, hope, & joy in the world around us behind. Enjoy these last days of summer.

Thank you Jean, I know I will have to move back to those issues in my newsletter. But it was nice to take a few months off to focus on the beauty of our planet and I am a bit reluctant to dive into the ever deeper environmental mess that I have been warning the world about for the past 15 years or so. More than ever before, I feel I need to experience the beauty of nature to remember myself what's at stake.
