Beautiful images, the horses & dunes! Always interesting texts about your wonderful islands. Thanks for your efforts in creating another lovely Island Story! Enjoying them all!
Such wonderful photos of the dunes and the horses. They are such wonderful creatures and live in harmony with nature. Thanks for sharing the history of the area. Living in NY we still have many remembrances of when the Dutch were here. Knowing about the Counts of Nassau was especially interesting since I live in Nassau County. Looking forward to your next story.
Love the horses and the history and how you refer back to earlier newsletters. Those pictures are absolutely stunning! Amazing colors. The horses look like they were made for that area.
Probably a good idea to stay away from the horses. I only have limited experience with free roaming horses. Cows on the other hand I'm very used to and while I always stop for a chat I stay far enough away so they don't feel like they have to move in any way.
Glad you can go out and walk for a bit. And thank you for sharing the beauty you encounter.
Exciting Alexander, another unique horse herd photo!
I'm very found of the Konik horses. Some time back I took care of one.
I looked up Oranjezon on Google maps and zoomed in on the Nature reserve (Naturegebied Oranjezon). There are Lots of trails, campgrounds and beaches to explore. Camping is my choice of travel.
I walked this time on the eastern trail; it's more tranquil, even now in the tourist season. But, on the other hand, the landscape towards the west is more varied.

I just wrote one more for tomorrow morning :-)

Konik in English, means horsey. In polish, we say horse as koń. Konik is a little horse.

I met cows too in Oranjezon, still have to share those pictures.
I’ve never been to Zeeland but have heard of it before. It featured in a novel I read but I can’t recall its name!
I hope you will visit Zeeland someday, you will enjoy the unique landscapes, and there is so much history everywhere.
It would be great material for my newsletter Rambling Photographer which combines photography with culture, history and nature

I noticed that there is a stable for Forest and Beach rides nearby ( http://www.manege-duno.nl/nl/buitenritten). Right click in page for 'Translation to English'.
One can also lead a Shetland pony as a hiking buddy (-:
Thank you for the history link ZeewseAnkers; Oranjezon
