Change starts at the individual level by wasting less fossil fuel, eating fewer animal products, by voting for capable leaders with a long-term vision for a better, fairer, and cleaner world. Change at the individual level starts with kindness, respect for others, and acting upon it.But systematic change asks for leadership, and that is where the second question comes in about the one thing in the world that you would change if you could. That explains the remarkable coherence between the answers to the first and the second questions. The environment, food, animal rights, equality, justice, and peace appear in the first and second wish list.
Everyone must evaluate how they can best contribute and act accordingly to make a positive difference but I feel it’s less about me and more how we can encourage change on a larger scale.
Electing and demanding strong, intelligent leaders who are committed to sound governance and protecting our planet is the highest priority. Leaders must know we are watching them and demanding more than empty words. They must accept facts and scientific proof to guide them in decision making and we can accept nothing less.
Bad leaders must go. Save the planet and give peace a chance.
Happy New Year Alexander! I hope you and your family enjoyed the holidays in your koselig little bit of paradise on this amazing planet.
I truly appreciate the responses from you followers and the summary you provided. It is part of why I truly value following The Planet and reading your notes plus the feedback from your readers.
I am optimistic for 2023, hopeful that we continue to see progress from the elected leaders in my country on climate change and policies that contribute to justice. We have such a long way to go, but I celebrate every small
step in a positive direction. At the personal level I remain committed to kindness towards others and trying to do good for the planet. Each and every day I will do good for those in need here in northern Michigan, and also for my fellow Earthers for whom my actions are more dependent on a ‘butterfly effect’.
Happy 2023, Alexander, and thank you for continuing to write these messages.
I am late in responding because I am backing away from social media. If so many of us are of the same or similar mindsets and making positive changes in our own corner of the world, hopefully those changes will gain more momentum and add up to substantial improvements for the planet, for public and individual health, and for democracy, justice, peace-building, and good will. 🙏🕊✌
Another beautiful, inspiring post! I didn’t see the requests on social, but thought about it before reading your post. I also wanted to be kinder, and fearlessly lend a hand where needed. And I wanted to find more ways to help our world be greener! And not to give up, because after nearly 40 years of working to inspire change, and higher consciousness, I’m a bit tired.
So definitely one of your readers Alexander!! Wishing you, and all the readers at The Planet a happy, successful (at working our intentions) 2023! 🎉🤩🥳💖
Many thoughtful reflections and goals.
