Splendid! What a great account of your first day walking the Camino.

Beautifully combining the beauty, history, community and emotion with the environmental appreciation as well as observing how the earth has recovered from devastating wildfires. So much to absorb in this lush part of the journey brimming with fascinating land and treasures.

Thank you for burning the midnight oil to write this masterful tale.

A pity the fog obscured much of the view from the height of the Pyrenees.

Onward in safety and high spirit!

Encountering a food truck amidst your historical walk sounds both amusing and surreal. 1200 meters on your first day is quite an accomplishment! The fog seems so symbolic...a transitional welcome from Mother Nature and her guardians of the Camino to your pilgrimage.

Hope you're getting a well-deserved and uninterrupted rest.

An elevation gain of 1200 meters on day one is amazing! Well done! Loving the fog pictures. I can just imagine how cold it must have felt.

I'm always fascinated by the legends attached to ancient bridges and unusual geological features. How interesting that you learned more about Basque culture and language at a food truck. I love that.

Now trying to think how many languages I can say spider web in and googling what it is in Basque.

Thank you for taking us along on your journey and sharing stories and pictures.

Much good has come about with the existence of the food truck. I lived in Austin, TX so I know this to be true ๐ŸŒฎ <-- vegan tacos

I'm totally blaming you for going to the store right now to buy the ingredients I need to make tacos for lunch. Gracias!

What a wonderful first day ascending 1200 meters with fellow travelers through some clear and foggy beautiful sites of landscapes, villages, interesting water fountain, even a food truck! Your mind must be free of any clutter after such a feat. Observing the recovering sites of fire last year is encouraging. Enjoy a full nightโ€™s rest before you move on again. Weโ€™re walking with you! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿฅพ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ
