Thank you for sharing the "just us" part of your writing life and giving others a glimpse of Patreon. It may be my favorite platform because of the many images you post. Thinking fondly of the 10:00 am impressions during your two Camino walks. I loved living in Groningen but will have to visit south one day. And you know, this sunset may have been disappointing but guaranteed the next will be stunning 🌅

Intriguing commentary on the attraction being change! The opposite of “shock and awe” American politics destroying our nation. Of course, the architects of this tragedy 🎭 planned years in advance, even published their intentions. As if we would not pay attention, having lived in relative harmony since WW2. There have been many ill advised conflicts for which we must claim responsibility. The Greatest Generation was incomparable in American stability and global allegiances too. But it was there, festering under the surface and the volcanic like eruption 🌋 has occurred. How we will survive or not remains to be seen. We are a young nation, 250 years versus the year 1450 until the present? And the changes inflicted by fossil fuel giants may not be reversible as were the rising seas in your home. Experience is a great teacher but arrives on her own schedule. Your love of the island is inspiring. It is so very rewarding to live where you feel is home. I lived in an area of AL that I adored for many years. I discovered it by random chance and would have stayed forever but life doesn’t cooperate. I dream of it still and yearn to be there. But Thomas Wolff was so correct; in my case, perhaps not yours. “You Can’t Go Home Again.” 😘

As I read this, I felt like I was maybe 10 or 11 years old again.

A kid hanging out with another kid who says,

“Hey, I want to show you something. Come on!”

And so, you run and jump and check to see if I’m following.

I am. Curious and excited about what I’ll see.

You’re smiling and laughing.

And then you stop. Look around at it all. Suddenly quiet.

I look, too. An expanse of sea. Wind. A restless sky.

My eyes and ears and body take it all inside of me. I am keenly aware of what this place offers you.

Your inextricable connection with this island gives to you and what you give back.

What I learn in this sharing is that this island is your chosen domain. Home for you. I’m invited in to see it through your eyes. Your words. Your photo. Your painting. Your song.

I have a place I go to as well. We return often, maybe daily, to settle, to release the noise and calamity of our man made world.

It helps. A lot.

Thanks, Alexander.
