Wow! I didn't even spot the owl right away, he looked just like a knot on the tree!

What a lovely bonus for your morning walk! How lucky to spot this well disguised creature.

Owls are fascinating, one of my favorite birds, whichever species. Their faces are gorgeous.

Wonderful photos and video.

Love the photo of the reading room and the new leaves in that special shade of spring green.

Thanks for the news articles as well.

So many new discoveries!

Bravo on finding that owl! That must have been a very special moment. Thank you for sharing it with us. I sometimes hear owls in the local forest and once saw one flying at dusk. That was the most beautiful sight.

Little anecdote: I was in an animal park/sanctuary - I'm not entirely sure if all the owls there were rescues - and tried to tell my friend from South Africa what kind of owls they were. I knew their names in (Swiss) German and had to google their English names. Turns out the words "Kauz", "Eule" & "Uhu" are all just "something something owl" in English. I wonder if there's different words in Dutch as well. Sorry, the linguist in me took over.

So glad I decided to comment. Found out that my subscription had somehow been β€œpaused.” Oh, nooooo! All fixed now.

Just wanted to say that everything in your newsletter this morning made me so happy. How spectacular to be offered, not only this rare sighting of the Eastern Screech Owl, but to video him as well.

Off to NASA next! What an extraordinary first paragraph.

And that library! Being an ardent lover of books, it was like getting a glimpse of heaven. Giddy, vibrant, and overflowing with story, history (however skewed it may be) and knowledge. Thx, Alex!

That’s a nice bird you photographed and that I have never seen live nor would recognize the sound. I just discovered that the nightingale is frequent here but I only heard it in Italy. πŸ€©β˜˜οΈπŸ™πŸ»
