Suddenly, peonies are blooming everywhere around me. Within one or two days, I saw them develop from tight, spherical-shaped buds to lush, fluffy flowers, making them hard to miss with their voluminous blooms and vibrant hues. So for today, I will share three photos of peonies. I was reminded to do so by my calendar, where I typed in many months ago that I should post a photo in The Planet newsletter every Wednesday, but I am never very good at sticking to one concept. Sometimes I wrote such long text on Wednesday that the photo was hardly relevant anymore (a risk I might reencounter today). On other days I didn't write at all, or I wrote about climate or nature and only just before posting had to find a picture.
Peonies are my absolute favourite flowering plant. I received a beautiful bunch of cut peonies for my birthday recently and they were just beginning to drop their petals when I attended a wedding. I took a bag full of pretty pink petals to use as confetti. It was so lovey to throw handfuls of them into the air and celebrate the bride and groomβs happiness with them.
Because I read this before I set out for my hike this morning, I paid more attention to the flowers I saw. Couldn't name all of them, but they were beautiful.
Loved learning more about peonies - thank you. I'm not a big fan of them myself. Too fragrant. I love looking at them in pictures and from afar though.
In just the last few years I started to appreciate peonies, and just a few weeks ago I noticed peonies blooming just outside of my new apartment! I think this is a good omen :). Thanks for a beautiful post!
I love them! In China, they are known as the King of Flowers. I have to admit that I am a candle freak and I always have either a rose or peony (or peony and bergamot) candle handy. Beautiful photographs!
Yes, those beautiful Peonies. The Peonies in the garden here got pummeled by Chickpea size hail.
They just started to bud and ruffle. Their petals are broke, holed, frayed and whipped by the wind, all over the garden, Red and White ones. I'm trying to save the broken ones, by providing first aid . . . Planted last year. This is their first winter, spring and summer experience, I love Peonies !
In the timeless garden where the days live, there are words blooming in summer shades...
A gaze to wonders of revisited beauty.
Peonies are wonderful. Unfortunately they do not last long once cut. Although fleeting to enjoy they are among the most beautiful of flowers.

Peonies were my motherβs favorite. She took great pride in growing hers.
