The last week of March was a rough one for Alex and our planet. He is in a hurry and losing patience because our planet is in trouble and we seem to run roughshod over ideas that the negotiators at COP βplay withβ and then canβt
seem to reach agreement. It appears to me (a k a IMO) all they talk about is money
β plans and policies are βdiscussedβ and disappear.
How very dishearteningβ¦
Alex, I know this sounds trite, but βI feel your angerβ. π
Thank you, Anne. There must be millions that feel the same way: understanding the scale and urgency of the problem, knowing we know how to solve it and even how to finance it, but then losing our beautiful planet forever for the greed and incompetence of a relatively small group of global elite in a short (one or two generations) period of human history is impossible to accept.
You write β¦Β "Searching through the news from that week in late March, I also read that the world wastes over one million meals a day. That is nearly 20 percent of all food produced worldwide. Meanwhile, chronic hunger is increasing worldwide."
Iβm very concerned daily by my own food buying choices and my waste of uncooked or uneaten fruits and vegetables.
I cook them to preserve them more time, I also make sweet sauces or tasty smoothies.
As I try to handle this serious matter, I know of initiatives of restaurant owners and professional cooks at hospitals and school canteens who collect the unsold items at partner supermarkets or groceries for to prepare daily meals.
I very much hope we will handle this issue and waste less food and while weβre at it we must avoid unnecessary and plastic packaging.
Thanks a lot for stimulating our reflection, all your articles and initiatives.
We should have had you as a negotiator
haha, my days as a diplomat are behind me.
