The curtain opened with Denmarkโ€™s climate minister, Dan Jรธgensen, a key player at the COP and its global stocktake. He stated: โ€œWe cannot negotiate with nature. The climate cannot compromise. No well-meaning words will change a single thing unless we act. This week may be our last opportunity to bring us on course to keeping 1.5 Celsius alive.โ€

And scene.

A mystery. And every single day we hold our breath waiting for leadership to do the right thing.

Thank you, as always, for your clarity ๐ŸŒป

I loved that scene - time to act NOW.

A clear and precise evaluation of tipping points arriving, commitments to be made and UPHELD, if we value our beautiful living space, biodiversity, and home, the ๐ŸŒŽ. The only question that remains is โ€œdo the people in power to make the changes needed have the courage and resolve to move forward as they must?โ€ or do those living in a world of wealth and privilege, the temporary comfort felt today, continue to overrule sacrifice for the greater good of all inhabitants of Earth? Sadly, the power to enforce change is tied to capital which no one is willing to compromise. We live in a new society that cares little about others, the children growing to adults in a climate compromised world, or those born in poor nations so very far away from โ€œmeโ€ they need not exist at all. ๐Ÿฅฒ

I feel bad for the many delegates who are at COP28 actually trying to find solutions. Such a farce - scientific data should be the basis of what's going on and not be denied. Plus there is so much prosperity to be had when it comes to renewable energy sources.

A well written piece - thank you.

Thank you my dear friend for standing strong. It's a constant struggle and concern.. The world chooses greed over and over. Sweep it under the rug, it might just go away. You are right about the fact that history just keeps repeating. There is more, there is hope. ๐Ÿ™

Yes there is hope, but this morning it is far away. Al Gore commented on the latest draft declaration something along the lines of "drafted by OPEC". This COP is worse than expected and that after a climate record breaking, record smashing actually, year.
