How routine becomes so very appreciated in the chaos of the larger world. What a beautiful and familiar walk in the village. Comforting I would think. 🤔
I believe it was discontinued some 30 or 40 years ago. Since then it’s bus connections to Zierikzee and there are no plans to restore it. They did restore an old steam train that in the summer drives tourists along the Brouwersdam. 🚂
Thank you very much Alex 🙋♀️ for this personal sharing and this part of the history of this “protected and protective” place.
Knowing how to be in contemplation of what surrounds us, but also in reflection on the world and its events, is very important.
It is a so precious balance of life which allows us to understand the noise, the turbulence of the world... without losing the ability to contemplate what is before our eyes, to continue to perceive the beauty of things, even the simplest or usual.
These pleasant “snapshots” reflect the serene atmosphere of the end of a ordinary day in this place, and your deep attachment to this island.
(And I also see your photographic taste for the symmetry 😉!)
The desert has its own magic at the shoulders of the day, as you often capture it. The contrast between this traditional village and Arizona’s desert can hardly be bigger, but I love the timeless beauty of both settings. 🏜️
Painting with words as well as a camera.
And the windmill! Love it.

I love when unexpected beauty hits. Gorgeous pictures - perfect moments.
I totally agree regarding walking (holidays), I often fall asleep to those memories.
And I'm now obsessed with that tram line. Are there any plans to bring it back?

Bedankt! And too bad.
Might have to put steam train along the Brouwersdam on my list.
As always, you find the decisive moment 📷 lovely
Beautiful! 📷
But, gee wiz . . . no snow? (-:
There was some snow but it’s gone now

Exactly 😊
La luz changes everything; light conveys emotion, making the ordinary magical. A contrast between light and shadows while bouncing off headlights.
I love to chase the light, to absorb it whether it be a desert sunset or an iridescent windmill in The Netherlands.
Keep looking for the wonder in ordinary days. Thanks, Alex.
