A history lesson for Valentineâs Day! And quite a history it is.
This is all very interesting and in these tumultuous times, it may help to recall how violent the Middle Ages were.
An interesting mention of John who bears a definite similarity to a current individual who I just read is considered by many countries to be the biggest threat to global security.
The many card shops, florists and chocolatiers owe much to Charles.
I like this Valentineâs Day story. Thanks đâ€ïž
Todayâs John belongs in jail but I donât have high hopes on his poetry talents, and nor will the theme of people loving and caring for another be one of his themes to write about.
Not sure what it says about me that I love that the history around the origins of the first Valentine contains so much bloody murder, but there you go ...
A valentines wish for humanity that the similar individual find the same fate as John, during bloody ongoing hundreds years wars (intermittently is the only difference) for which we finance more tax dollars than any other category in the budget, so many an audit cannot be accomplished. Is peaceful coexistence possible for our species? Evidence would suggest itâs a bit like a tea kettle blowing off steam as it boils up and over at intervals, bloody valentines indeed. Our fates are simply the result of the times of our lives, while the water is boiling or the kettle is blowing off steam. A sad statement as to rational, critical thinking. Paranoia came to stay with the fall of the twin towers, Pearl Harbor before, and on and on. So we protect ourselves with the latest weapons to offset attacks instead of negotiating world peace,
JFK was a dreamer but Camelot was a lovely idea. Iâm just signing off for the day so thoughts rambling. If I recall world history at all, there has never been world peace. And the population explosion coupled with climate change cannot be a good combination. Wealth inequality, all contributing issues. Homo Sapiens has much to answer for. I feel the need for flowers and chocolate and an old fashioned Rom Com with my girls đœđœ to round out the day. We can only survive one day at a time. Especially it seems in 2024 but I imagine others have felt the same way. đđđïž
I would have enjoyed living in Europe my 76 so far years of those 80. Seems like a dream. How long I will go on with âissuesâ compromising mobility remains to be seen. Stuck in deep red SC, southeastern USA. Ugh.đŁ

Nice that you like it đ
Wow. History repeats itself. And it appears there will always be a "John" somewhere. A noble tradition poetry in captivity.

Most of Europe lived without war for nearly 80 years. It can be done, but peace is never a given.
