Not reading to the end would be like leaving the ball game in the eighth inning. So, of course, I read to the end. Your photos are always a special treat, perfectly designed to complement your article. Reading recommendations are always interesting & well tied to the writing. This is your newsletter so please continue with anything else you find interesting, important or choose to share.

It’s been a pleasure to share your birthday celebration virtually & so nice to hear you thoroughly enjoyed it. Everyone deserves a break especially one who works as diligently as you. I’ve loved Island Stories & the opportunity to see your incredible island & learn some very interesting facts as well as enjoying the occasional humor. Your insights about climate & current news are shared from an expert’s perspective. As the mounting effects are increasingly dramatic & undeniable, their significance can’t be overstated. You are a leader in this field & your voice is important.

Thank you for this excellent newsletter & all you put into it. I’m here for the ninth inning & even extra innings!

Happy to see you relaxing in Zierikzee with a lovely birthday smile!

Actually, I think you went into extended overtime but no complaints here. I love a good game even if it’s long! 😉

Glad you had a wonderful birthday and hope your neck pain is better. Love when you share local history. Your insights are always illuminating and you bring parts of the world to light that I would probably never even knew existed. Lovely photo of you and, yes, a snapshot of the day would be great.

Loving all the bikes parked along that wall. Of course I read to the end and I really like that 'snapshot of the day' idea. Your newsletter is a nice mix. It was good to have a bit of a break from (climate) reality over the summer - it is what holidays often feel like to me. So maybe changing it up again in December is a good idea. Totally up to you - there might be other stories to tell by then. It's a weird time for making plans. Have thoroughly enjoyed all your newsletter. Looking forward to the weekend one(s).

Glad to hear you had a happy birthday on your beautiful island.

Definitely a great post of a fine birthday afterglow photo, including the hankering for more inspirations to write.

One of the things that counts in daily live is one's biological age, nurture it, I would say, it is there, each day. Birthdays, well, they come and go . . .

Thank you for sharing your day (-:

I like the ‘Snapshot of the day’ idea. I may have an once in a while 'Snapshot' (on the topic) for in the comments. If that is permitted?

I’m admiring this birthday post 17 months, more or less, after Lizzie Pi’s comments (founding member

I discovered). I could not add more than one thought to her wise words; except to wish you many more happy, healthy, productive years to come! 🥳🎁🎂😽😘

Hi Roy, Thank you. It is a problem that happens a lot with Gmail, just move it one time to the primary folder and Gmail learns that you want to read it. I will try to add the extra picture when I have one :-)

Hello Alex, I’m so glad to hear you had a wonderful birthday. Just follow your feelings…if you’re inspired by a photo or a book or a quote or who knows what, add it at the end…again, only if you’re so inspired! Wishing you a healthy, happy and inspired year ahead!!

Thank you for the feedback Jean, I won't do it every time, but whenever I have some 'leftovers' that don't fit in the story, I will add them in the end.

Dear Alexander, Happy Belated Birthday! I am so glad to hear you spent a 'gzellig' time with family and friends to celebrate your special day. I appreciate this time you have been sharing historical and geographical background from your true home. As mentioned before, it has definitely helped expand my list of things to do on my next trip to the Netherlands. For now, however, I will enjoy vicariously through your photos and stories.

Snapshot of the day is a nice idea. It doesn't need to be everyday, of course, but the occasional picture adds an positive feature to your newsletter. I regularly add a sunrise picture on Facebook as a quasi-snapshot of the day, and I know my FB friends enjoy them.

All the best, M
