Now I can't get that idea out of my head.. Sounds heavenly. I might just have to google if there are any showshoe treks around here that would be suitable. I mean, I don't want to fall off a mountain or anything.
Most people use a Fat Bike with extra wide and soft tires. Lots of fun. If you live in the area, you can rent them for the day next to the new cheese shop in Chelsea.
What a fabulous day with friends in a perfect setting. Your superb photos transport me to this snowy wonderland I have never seen. Thank you for taking me along! 😊
What a beautiful location and day for a winter snowshoe walk! I am with you on enjoying the dramatic changes between the seasons that come with living "Up North". I keep hoping (and working in my small ways) for it to continue this way for many years to come. Thanks for sharing.
Perfumed trails in brief adventures to embrace the winter days warmed by the shy stillness of the sun. Soft white memories suspended from bare branches. Cold nature nurturing life. Footprints scattered in the snow that will be fading into the next season...Somewhere, pleased and grateful for the walk, I'm smiling. Hot and steaming coffee has just arrived at my table.
This looks and sounds amazing! I also went on a winter walk yesterday, way up in the mountains. We have special winter hiking trails (as I'm sure there are in Canada as well) and we came across a bunch of snowshoe walkers. There are a lot of snowshoe trails too (see picture on Twitter).
Looks like you picked the perfect day for it. Love those wintery pictures with the blue skies. And that squirrel is too cute. Nicely captured. Plus, it looks like you found some snow-covered "dunes" with grass sticking out. Or at least that's what it reminded me of. That shelter is straight out of a fairytale. Just wow.
And that's one happy showshoe walker at the end. Thank you for taking us along. Glad I could read it from the warmth of my living room though.
Up in the mountains where there's snow & sun - yes.
I escape the grey down here and go on little alpine adventures. I love that I have that option. My area has a lot of water and hills, so there's fog and/or low-lying clouds that can get "stuck". Sometimes for weeks.
Next . . .
a Full Moon Snowshoe Trek. It's a must do challenge. It's a bucket list item. It's heaven on Earth
It's . . . (-:
I would love to, but it is minus 28 C at night!

A beautiful article and stunning photos!
Winter’s magic ❄️
Glad to see you enjoyed a day off.
Thanks Lizzie
Beautiful day in Gatineau Park today... I was winter cycling. That's also an adventure we should try.
I saw last week some of those snow cycles, it looked like fun!
Do you use a special bike and/or special tires?
Sounds fun.

Great idea. I should try that someday 🚴
Anytime...
Thank you! Makes sens to use a Fat Bike. I'll check out if we have something similiar here. Sounds like I'd enjoy that.

Thank you Judith, that was precisely the idea: to take you along and share the beauty of the moment. Glad you liked it.
That looks so fun!!! Winter is magical! :)
It is!
"The cold never bothered me anyway." Oh wait. Sonoran Desert here. May have to work up to this. Magical outing with stunning pics!
We could have used a bit of that Sonoran heat yesterday ;-)

Glad you like it Mike, still hoping to experience one of those seasons at your place someday.

Even the coffee was there too, one of us had carried it to the cabin :-)

It was an amazing walk. I'm sure it must be magical in Switzerland too this season.

What an extraordinary glorious day for a snowshoe trek with friends. The stark contrast between earth and crystal blue sky is exquisite.
The blue was stunning and the reflecting white sometimes just hurt my eyes.
Stunning pictures, fair text, gorgeous setting , 👏🏻👏🏻☘️☀️❄️
Thanks, Aida
