Last week, when the latest IPCC report on climate change came out, I had an interview of about ten minutes on A News. I often share the link on social media later on the same day, but I didn’t receive it and forgot about it. Now I coincidentally found it on Facebook, so I will add a button that directly links to the interview for those of you still interested.
Your words in the interview could not have been more prophetic!
Just as you stated, within days the very ominous climate report is pushed aside by other news & forgotten by most. As horrible as the current news is, the climate emergency is still the most important. History will record the events of this week but unless the climate crisis is given the urgent attention it demands, there will be no more history.
This is a great & timely interview with unequaled importance. As always, your insights & keen perceptions of this monumentally consequential mandate is exactly what we need to hear.
Thank you, Lizzie. Of course, in this particular example, the news was so devastating and impacting the lives of so many women, girls, and many other people in Afghanistan, that I don't plead for less attention to that crisis. But the structural causes of the climate crisis should be an urgent debate in the media, governments, and societies every single day until we have solved it.
It’s exasperating how the media does not focus on the climate crisis (not “change”). They cover only the breaking news of the day that quickly changes minute by minute or hour by hour. The climate crisis affects all aspects of our lives. Alex, I appreciated your thoughtful, well informed and defined words.

Thank you, Dawna. Some newspapers do a better job, The Guardian is for instant excellent on the climate crisis.
Iedereen zou dit interview moeten zien. 👍🏼
Dank je Brigitte, dat hoop ik ook. Jammer dat ik het pas na een week toevallig op internet tegenkwam
Excellent interview, Alexander. Perfect words, accurate concerns, essential goals. From here to Burgh, thank you for your commitment.
Thank you, that is nice to hear
Splendid ! 🌷
Thanks!
