I remember well the frightening heat and wildfires of your 2022 Camino walk.

The second also.

You are not only a pilgrim but a dedicated climate warrior and have been for many years.

Thank you for the dedication and sacrifices you’ve made and continue making for the planet

It’s great you have a partner in Swiss Re. It takes collaboration with many others to save our planet home.

Thanks Lizzie, I walked this years Camino while there was extreme weather all over Spain, I experienced extreme heat, but this time there were no wildfires in the part where I walked (but you will likely have seen some of those elsewhere in Spain in the media, just as the flooding)

Beautiful scenes and then some sad reflection on what humans are doing to this beautiful planet.. Thinking of wars, refugees and list goes on.. Praying that at the end and beyond we will all be without the burden of educating those that just don't have the capacity to understand. We keep going and we keep hoping that there will be some good that comes from your efforts. 🌳🐝🍇🌏⏳

I guess we can't live without hope, but we also need a lot more, like leaders that lead during a crisis.

Your tolerance to the heat and flexibility in planning your journey made it possible to continue in 2022 and return in 2023 with an itinerary more expansive. Looking forward to the videos coming from your collaboration with Suiss Re.

We followed along with you here and on other sites as you were able to find internet access. And yes, we were worried for your safety on foot walking across Spain. I recall relief when you reached the sea at last and I knew you would be making your way home from your journey with more information to share. How very much the world has changed in that year; now with so many complicating political factors it is mind boggling indeed to see a path forward to a peaceful coexistence of all peoples so we may impact in a positive way the changing planet 🌍. I remember with such personal remorse the wildfires that ravaged Lahaina especially, eradicating the beauty and history there likely forever. I had friends there for whom my worry was acutely painful; I still do not know what became of them, one of the realities of aging, losing people dear in your memories and finally accepting that you will never know as friends disappear forever from this side of life. Please post tidbits when you can so we know you are in fact still working toward your goals in that organized way we have come to recognize as uniquely Alex. 💔🇺🇸🌎😘

Thank you Judith, climate change impacts in the western world are now so much more extreme than just a couple of years ago. The speed at which we see the change is especially scary.

Is the time finally over when D.Trump and climate skeptics could assert without qualms that climate change was only a fable...

- despite all the warning signs and the multiplication of climatic upheavals,

- despite recognized and respected analysts and “whistleblower”, like you, Alex!

Fire records have been reached

in 2022 in Europe with in particular major fires in Spain and in the South-West of France, with first of all the observation of the humanitarian dangers...

And despite these dangers, your insatiable need to observe has led you once again on these ever more perilous paths in 2023, this new year also announcing new records for heat and disturbances.

Your collaboration with Swiss Re experts in the share of your experience, your questions and your thoughts - and this new concept:

“when the extreme seems to become the norm”

promises to be very informative and very interesting for us!

So thank you again for all your personal involvement ! 🙋‍♀️💯💯

Thank you Daniéle. It is hopeful to see companies like Swiss Re following the right policies towards a manageble adaptation to deal with the new challenges. Their early lead in convincing other businesses about the seriousness of the climate crisis and sharing their evidence that the losses due to climate change were increasing has been helpful in convincing many that need to get on board for climate action.

As part of their studies concerning warming temperatures in the years to come, the role of reinsurers is indeed essential in the fight against climate change.

Evaluate the evolution of this new data for businesses, but also their impacts on individuals.

The analyzes of Reinsurers will therefore certainly be able to help in decision-making at States level.

Guidance: the learning curve, the bridge over turbulent waters, the road marker, the grid map, the connections to get where we need and should go. There is no longer near and far, just a journey and a destination. Thank you for being there every step of the way.

Thanks for your sobering reflections on two summers of pilgrimage on the Camino. It is a small planet that we share, and it is increasingly difficult to hide from the frightening impacts of a rapidly warming planet, no matter where you are located. Thanks also for the exciting teaser for the videos documenting your conversations with Swiss RE's experts. I look forward to viewing the videos.

It seems we can't escape climate change wherever we go. Just thinking of experiences outside of Spain of these two summers the record-breaking forest fires of Canada come to mind. I had to keep the windows closed and tried to stay indoors for the very unhealthy smoke that was all around. When I arrived in Spain this summer, the first news I picked up was that the smoke had traveled -just like me- over the Atlantic ocean and arrived in Spain. I remember the famous "longest ice-skating rink in the world", the Rideau Canal in Ottawa, for the first time having a winter that it was not opened due to lack of ice. I remember the drought in the beautiful dunes in my home village on the island, and sleeping for the first time with airconditioning in the Netherlands. I'm sure all readers will have these kinds of experiences.
