Lovely sunset. Your photograph captured it perfectly. Our sunsets have been strange because of the wildfire smoke from the west. On Long Island jetties are built of stone to stop the sands from shifting. They do make great spots to fish. The poles seem to be another way but more likely not to last as long. With the hot weather here beaches are always crowded. Nice to see an empty one.
Our jetties are normally also made of stone, somehow this is typically a thing for this province to use those poles. One reader reminded me that those poles are also used in England in the Thames river.
Thank you for bringing me the function of the wood poles, starting way back in time that saved the beaches of today, and the 'Ship-worm' (link) this morning.
This Ship-worm is an amazing natural (Global) problem to learn about. Those early 'Seafarers' did not know what ate them . . . and what followed, sailing in a Holy holed ship. So much destruction of tree growth to find a wood type that seemed resistant to the Ship-worm bite and hunger. Creosote is still with us, but I'm much less aware of it today.
Stunning pictures. Must be so nice to have a near empty beach so close to home. I will never get tired of seeing a proper ocean sunset and you capture them so well. Here the sun just disappears behind a hill and that's that. As others have already said, the B&W works really well for the second picture. Looking forward to more B&W Photography ;-)
Love that I now know more about those wooden poles. And an article with the title "Waarom staan er zoveel paalhoofden in Zeeland?" - I just had to read that. Thank you for always including sources in Dutch. I'll save the shipworms one for the weekend, I think.
It always feels peaceful to be there at sunset. Having a worldwide following means that I always struggle to find the right time to send out my posts. I have now fixed it for a while at 7 am in most of Europe, and 1 am Eastern Time. But when I write 'start your day with The Planet newsletter,' that doesn't work for those in California, Australia, or India.

Your sunset photos are the best & this one is perfection.
But I adore the black & white as well.
The juxtaposing ambience of the two is very satisfying.
Interesting details about the beach poles. They serve an important purpose but the aesthetics they add to the scene are endless.
They are a favourite theme for many photographers :-)
So I’ve heard.
Great Sunset capture (-:

Yes, it Is a classic example of invasive species, and a costly one too.
Absolutely gorgeous... thank you...
Such a beautiful place to enjoy. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you!

impressive that you can read the Dutch articles!
Love a beach with barely no people! What a dream 😍
When I have been away for a while, it is always the first place that I go back to when back on the island. Just to make sure it is all still there.
Beautiful. B&W image is perfect. Moments to share.
Thank you, it reminds me to work more in B&W
I’m suspicious in purity. Is a professional goal. But B&W defines all the edges of light and shadow. Ansel Adams did it in perfection.
So peaceful. Lovely snap to appreciate before bedtime!

They are always welcome any time of day. Or night!
Stunning photographs.
Thank you, Caro :-)
