Thank you for the 'walk in the park' in Ottawa. Thinking 'Good morning' to Woodpecker and Squirrel from afar. Spring showing its bloom. A beautiful video capture of spring's efforts while listening to the critter chatter, invigorating. (-:

Lovely video (and well edited)! You had a nice visit with that pileated woodpecker. They used to be exceedingly rare before the scourge of industrial acid rain in Ontario. The acid caused the tops of maples to "die back" and made them vulnerable to insects. Woodpeckers came to the rescue and thrived on the increased food sources. The increased population in Ontario seems stable, no doubt due to other insects that have been introduced from Asia and Europe such as the Emerald Ash borer.

Adapt and prosper is a lesson they can teach us.
