"Now that MAGA is fracturing before our eyes, I hope American democracy can survive the chaos as this movement tears itself apart. The hat burnings tell us that even the most devoted followers have breaking points when promises collide with reality."

The Democratic National Committee and the Party need to run with this opportunity, however, as is their history, they fail in taking advantage when these moments present themselves. Making calls and holding my breath.

I do hope this begins the unravelling, but I fear the damage done to legislative budgetary priorities, not all of which have been adopted in deference to Trump. 2026 can’t arrive too soon. Thank you for hope nonetheless, as always.

ā€œThis is fascism's inevitable self-destruction, and that's a beautiful thing to watch.ā€

I hope the MAGA hats really burn; the cynic in me believes they’re indestructible ā€¼ļø

fracturing but the tide continues extremely powerful in other parts of the…. ive reached personal conclusion that republican congressional who are retiring and spoke against the bill but just voted it through with weak statements of why , and those judges… that it must be personal well being that is at hand as their concern. in the many other realms that my life has been affected - if anything, this is what is feels like in a growing autocracy. Hungarian friends say this is happening faster than in their country. at march yesterday the language is now—- ā€˜long game’. I believe things will turn around but it is a long process and USA will be isolated for a while and weak as well. if I ever wanted to know what it was like to live in a changed democracy…. as we have detention centers built, universities attacked in order to bend to the will of a higher power, national health data archives quietly re-vised, health policy made based on new evidence, a scientist committing suicide for nothing they have done but have been accused of, and everyday fear by others we come in contact with for their well-being because medicaid data is available to the ice, so on. well this is how it is - right now.

It is true that fascism eats its own. The night of the long knives is an example. Hermann Gƶring is notorious for saying all you need to get people to go to war is to convince them some enemy is out to destroy them.

I see the problem having deeper roots going back at least five thousand years when psychopathic gangster types took over control of all the governments of the planet. This process developed slowly during the early years of agriculture when standing armies were developed and psychopathic ā€œwar heroesā€ gradually took power. Misogyny had already been developing from the realization that men were absolutely essential to procreation but their contribution was that of a sperm donor. The humiliation and envy soured into misogyny. The psychopathic gangsters (war heroes) took advantage of this by mounting propaganda telling men they were superior to women and that women should be subservient to men. That is the essence of patriarchy. A very long line of father gods followed. These misogynistic psychopaths have ruled the governments on this planet for at least five thousand years. Goethe warned of the dangers of mechanistic materialism and its ensuing nihilism. The psychopaths saw that nihilism as a justification of their own beliefs and the very long history of cooperation of the inventors of the technology of war who had enabled the psychopaths to maintain power was cemented by a shared pseudo-philosophy of mechanistic materialism. It is no coincidence that the military has been the major source of employment for people from the STEM fields. I could go on but I am working on two articles for Substack where I will go into much greater detail .
