This email was scheduled to be sent out this morning at 1 am ET, but somehow it didn’t work this time. So, with my apologies for a bit of delay, here it is. Happy Earth Day!
Today, it is Earth Day. I have been busy with many Earth Day-related activities. So no stories this time. I hope you will have time to follow the highlights of the virtual Leaders’ Summit on Climate, where 40 world leaders will participate and announce their plans on climate action.
As you will have read in my articles yesterday and the day before, all signals warn us again that we need much stronger and far-reaching decisions by our leaders to reach the vital goal of the Paris Agreement of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
You can watch the Leaders Summit on Climate live on Thursday, April 22 at 8:00 a.m. EDT here.
You may like this short video; it is a bit of time-travel to the past: Walter Cronkite presents in 1970 the news about the first Earth Day.
All information about this year’s Earth Day can be found here.
And a few photos to celebrate the beauty of our planet, all taken at such iconic places that I am sure you will recognize the locations.
That’s it for today. Enjoy Earth Day, and let’s hope for firm commitments on climate action by the world’s leaders. It will be interesting to follow.
Happy Earth Day! I will definitely follow at least some of the Leaders' Summit on Climate.
Currently watching "Life in Colour with David Attenborough" on Netflix. Out today. Can highly recommend it. Love those pictures of Arches NP, Bryce Canyon NP and Monument Valley. Such beautiful places. Thank you for sharing and have a great day!
