Today, I will start a long trip, and it will be 127 days before I will be back home in Ottawa, except for a short stop next week. So this is just a quick post with pictures of a walk in the beautiful Gatineau Park, very close to Ottawa, in a region with a long history. Various archaeological sites indicate that First Nations peoples lived in the area as long as 6,000 years ago. Then, in 1613 and 1615, French explorers such as Samuel de Champlain arrived (whom you may remember from this recent post), followed by woodsmen and other adventurers looking for furs.
The park is a natural oasis covering 361 km² of hills and forest with spectacular sights and rich biodiversity. It's a hikers' paradise, and I love to go here. These photos are not from a long day-hike, but I took them during a short walk before spending the rest of the evening with good friends in a nearby restaurant. I hope they give an impression of the beauty you can find in the rest of the park.
Today, I will start 127 days of traveling; I will only be back in Ottawa by late September. And of course, I will continue to share my writing and photos, and my posts will often be about what I saw and experienced.

Or perhaps you would like to buy me a coffee for when I'm walking; there will be a lot of walking on this trip, in many countries.
