Surrounded by pear trees, in the middle of Burgh stands the oldest Protestant church building on the island; it was built between 1671 and 1674. Unfortunately, a fire damaged this Renaissance crucifix church in 1924, and the Second World War led to even more damage. Since then, the church has been thoroughly restored while retaining its appearance and atmosphere of the historic church. I pass this church practically every day and like this quiet green spot in the middle of the village.
I also have a video for you, where I passed the church tower I wrote about a year ago. It is all that remains of a village that we lost to the water. This is last year’s story:
And here is the video of my walk; it is less than two minutes. I hope you enjoy seeing this beautiful island.

Thank you for introducing me to the relive app - such fun. That looks like an amazing & long hike. How lucky that you don't have to drive anywhere to go for a walk. Similar here. I love that. I hope there were not too many mosquitos in the wetlands. If you are anything like me, they will all have found you.
And what a beautiful church. Thank you for sharing. And since I read below/above that you are now in Germany: viel Erfolg und hoffentlich auch Spass in Deutschland.
Thank you for this beautiful walk through the wetlands and your village.
These lovely walks are a joy. Always delightful and informative.
It’s great seeing earlier articles that add and explain about the current one.
Enjoy your trip!
